BREWSTER – The Bridgeport Fillies varsity girls’ soccer team saw its playoff hopes vanish along with a 6-0 loser-out decision to the second-ranked Brewster Bears last Thursday.

The team had its hands full against some solid opponents in CW2B leader and defending state champion Okanogan and second-place Brewster. Tonasket and Liberty Bell were also formidable rivals.

The Fillies did turn away conference rival Manson on both occasions when the teams played this season. Bridgeport defeated the Trojans, 7-3, on the road, Sept. 19, and 4-1 a month later on the Fillies’ home field.

Bridgeport opened its regular season with a 5-3 road loss on Lake Roosevelt on Sept. 7, but defeated the Raiders, 3-1, when they hosted them on Oct. 10.

The Fillies are a young team with seven sophomores and six freshmen on the roster. They lose senior team leaders Rosa Hernandez, Keysha Nava, Lizbeth Riveria, and Angie Valdovinos to graduation. Juniors on this season’s team are Evelyn Jimenez and Joaquina Torres.
