PATEROS – The Nannies varsity volleyball team gave the district’s undefeated Entiat Tigers a scare at home on Oct. 11, when Pateros out-hustled the 1B Central leaders, 25-22, on the opening set of a four-set match.

“The win in the first game was a big deal for us,” said head coach April Miller. “It’s the first set we have taken from them in the last two years. I’m very proud of the girls for coming out strong and playing well in that set.”

The Tigers found their rhythm in the second set of play and won the next three, 25-13, 25-7, and 25-10.

“We got down a bit when (Jordan) Long served 14 in a row in set two,” said Miller. “We were just not able to get it back together after that.”

The leading servers for Pateros were Jacky Gomez hitting 10 for 10, and Dylan Miller with 11 for 12 and three aces. Dakota Lasley scored two kills.

The Nannies had 36 total digs led by Adamary Loyola, 11, Addison Henton, 9, and Lexi Vargas, 8. Loyola had the team’s only block at the net.
