BREWSTER/OMAK - The WSU Diabetes Prevention Program can help you lose weight and prevent or delay Type 2 Diabetes.  It is a lifestyle change program that helps people develop lifelong skills for healthy living with step-by-step changes, according to Margaret Viebrock, WSU Extension program coordinator.
The Diabetes Prevention Program is for people with prediabetes, which is when your blood sugar is higher than normal, but not so high it can’t be lowered.  The program is a 12 week series, followed by bi-monthly meetings for two months and then monthly meetings for seven months.
The Omak class series is starting on Tuesday, June 6 at 9:30 a.m. at the Omak Public Library, 30 S. Ash in Omak and another series at 6 p.m. at the Family Health Center, 520 W. Indian Road in Brewster.  Other classes are also being held in Grand Coulee and Wenatchee.
Preregistration is required to determine eligibility.  For more information or to enroll, call Beth at (509) 322-2656 or WSU Extension at (509) 745-8531.
