Tidbits, March 7

Posted
Spring forward

Don't forget to set your clocks ahead one hour this Sunday. Spring is coming, so Daylight Savings Time is upon us. Those of us struggling with seasonal illness should appreciate the extra hour of sleep!

Happy birthday, Washington

From the Washington Secretary of State's Office:

Saturday marked the 160th anniversary of the creation of Washington Territory.

Before 1853, the land north of the Columbia River was part of Oregon Territory. On March 2, 1853, President Millard Fillmore signed the Organic Act to establish Washington Territory.

Until 1864, if you wanted to get divorced in Washington Territory, it required a bill passed by the Legislature and the governor's signature. In 1863, the Legislature granted 16 divorces.
