BREWSTER - Graduates gathered at the Champions Gym last Thursday, Dec. 29, as eight alumni girls from the Class of 2001 to the Class of 2016, tried to teach the varsity Lady Bears a basketball lesson.
Playing for the alums were Markie Miller, and Vanessa Torres, class of 2016, Karina Rincon, 2015, Brette Boesel, 2014, Andie Lee Gebbers, 2013, Chelsi McDonald, 2006, Melanie Pudelkewicz, 2006, and Nancy Rios, 2001.
The varsity girls turned out in nearly full-force, only absent two players, Abby Urias and Kimberly Nila.
The first quarter started even enough at the varsity girls took a slim three-point, 8-5 lead into the second quarter. The Lady Bears inched ahead by five at halftime, 19-14, behind the steady scoring of junior guard, Maret Miller.
The Lady Bears gained another three points by the end of the third quarter to lead, 36-27, despite a nine-point performance by Melanie Pudelkewicz (Class of 2005). Miller matched Pudelkewicz point-for-point through the third period and added another five in the fourth to lead all scorers with 20 points.
The Lady Bears led at all stops including the 14-12 fourth quarter to win going away, 60-39.
