Brewster Public Library to temporarily close starting August 30

Posted

BREWSTER  - The Brewster Public Library will be temporarily closed beginning Wednesday, August 30. The last day of service will be Tuesday, August 29.

“After several years of planning and preparation, we are so excited to see the first results of the Reimagining Spaces Project at the Brewster Public Library. The lessons learned and insights gained will help inform our work as we continue to refresh the interiors of our libraries,” said Barbara Walters, Executive Director.

The Brewster Public Library is NCW Libraries prototype location for the Reimagining Spaces Project. The goals of the project are to ensure that all of our libraries are  welcoming spaces positioned to serve each of the district’s diverse communities across North Central Washington for years to come.  Through the project, NCW Libraries is partnering with local municipalities, Friends of the Library groups, and building owners to update and refresh the interiors of our library locations.

The temporary closure of the Brewster Library will allow the project team to complete the final stages of the interior refresh. Over the last few years, staff has worked closely with the Brewster community to reimagine how the Brewster Library’s space could better serve local needs. Through a series of community engagement events, the following priorities were identified:

Improve entry to the building and traffic flow throughout.

Update the furniture and seating areas.

Create a family zone, a quiet workspace, and a private staff area.

During the closure, Brewster Library patrons will receive holds through the Mail Order Library service. All NCW Libraries card holders can check out and return library materials at any of our 30 library locations and access digital library materials 24/7 at ncwlibraries.org
